Day 1
Arrive Santiago
Arrive in Santiago, the vibrant Chilean capital. Situated in the Santiago basin, this coastal metropolis is spectacularly flanked by the Andes and enjoys some of the most magnificent settings of any city in the world. On arrival, be met and transferred to your hotel before enjoying a guided sightseeing city tour taking you to Santiago’s lively and historic central square, the Plaza de Armas. Enjoy a Welcome Reception this evening.
Day 2
Today you’ll enjoy a day-trip to the picturesque port city of Valparaíso, one of the South Pacific’s most important seaports. On arrival here, set out on a sightseeing tour of the World Heritage-listed town centre. Then take a drive up into the surrounding hills to absorb the stunning vistas of the bay and the colourful city below. Later, return to Santiago and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 3
Santiago, Buenos Aire
Depart Santiago and fly to the lively city of Buenos Aires in Argentina. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. A Taste of Buenos Aires - enjoy an authentic Argentinian dinner while watching an exhilarating tango performance, a fine tradition of passionate music and movement.
Day 4
Buenos Aires
Your in-depth sightseeing tour of Buenos Aires begins this morning at the Avenida de Mayo. See the pink Casa Rosada (Government House), the city’s cathedral and the Cabildo, Buenos Aires’ first city hall. Like a Local – visit Café Tortoni, an amazing coffee house with a rich history. Here, indulge in a coffee and a selection of Spanish delicacies. Later, explore the Italian-influenced barrio of La Boca and its famously colourful pedestrian street, the Caminito. Then travel along Avenida 9 de Julio, considered to be the widest avenue in the world. A Taste of Buenos Aires – at Esquina Carlos Gardel this evening, you’ll indulge in an authentic Argentinian dinner while taking in an exhilarating tango performance, representing a fine tradition of passionate music and movement.
Day 5
Buenos Aires
Armed with the insight and advice provided by your Travelmarvel Tour Director, today is yours to either relax or further explore the fascinating city of Buenos Aires independently. Enhance Your Journey: Perhaps enjoy a fun tango dance class; head to Tigre and cruise the Paraná Delta; or visit an estancia (ranch) for a full-day adventure featuring horseback riding, folk music and lunch.
Day 6
Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro
With the morning at leisure, explore Buenos Aires as you please. Later, fly to Rio de Janeiro, where the evening at leisure offers you the chance to dine at one of Rio’s many superb restaurants.
Day 7
Rio de Janeiro
Soak up Rio de Janeiro’s unique vibe with most of the day at leisure. Later, embark on a romantic sunset cable car ride to the majestic peak of Sugarloaf Mountain, where sublime vistas await. A Taste of Rio de Janeiro - head to Porcão Rio’s steakhouse to sample Brazil’s national cocktail, the caipirinha, before enjoying a delicious Brazilian BBQ dinner. Enhance Your Journey: Enjoy a leisurely drive through the local favelas shanty towns, or take an enthralling guided tour of some of Rio’s most significant historical sights.
Day 8
Rio de Janeiro
Head to Corcovado Mountain and visit the astonishing statue of Christ the Redeemer at the peak, absorbing the breathtaking views from the top. The rest of the day is yours to relax or further explore this vibrant city. Enhance Your Journey: Tonight, you may like to experience the city’s nightlife or take in a spectacular samba show.
Day 9
Rio de Janeiro, Iguassu Falls
Fly from Rio de Janeiro to Iguassu Falls, a system of 275 falls on the border of Argentina and Brazil. Experience the majesty of Brazil’s World Heritage-listed Iguassu National Park at your leisure. You might like to walk through subtropical rainforest and take in a breathtaking panoramic view of all 275 falls. Later, cross into the Argentinian side. Enhance Your Journey: Board an exciting speed boat ride safari and learn about the flora and fauna of this spectacular region.
Day 10
Iguassu Falls
On the Argentinian side of the falls, ride the Rainforest Ecological Train to a series of walkways and viewing points, including one that leads to the 82-metre-high Devil’s Throat, one of the most spectacular falls of the region. Enhance Your Journey: Perhaps board an exciting speed boat safari and learn about the unique flora and fauna of this spectacular region.
Day 11
Iguassu Falls, Lima Peru
Today heralds the start of your Peruvian discovery, as you fly from Iguassu Falls to Lima. Enhance Your Journey: Explore the native bird species at Parque das Aves or visit Itaipu Dam, the world’s largest dam.
Day 12
Lima, Cusco, Chincheros, Sacred Valley
This morning you’ll fly to the World Heritage-listed city of Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. Travel through Cusco to Chincheros, a city located in the stunning Andean highlands. Like a Local – during a traditional weaving demonstration, see how the colourful materials of South America are created by local people, and learn of their importance in preserving ancient traditions. This evening, enjoy dinner at your leisure. Special Stay – soak up the ancient Andean atmosphere and relax in comfort at the premium Aranwa Sacred Valley.
Day 13
Sacred Valley
Your Sacred Valley experience begins this morning with a visit to the unique markets of Pisac, a hilltop handicraft village located near various Inca ruins. A Taste of the Sacred Valley – visit the children’s project, Munaychay, and enjoy a delicious traditional lunch cooked in a Peruvian earth oven. Your sightseeing in the Sacred Valley then continues with a visit to Ollantaytambo, a town as well as a unique Inca archaeological site. Afterwards, the remainder of today is yours to enjoy at leisure.
Day 14
Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu
Like a Local – today board the Vistadome train and soak up the Andean landscapes as you head to World Heritage-listed Machu Picchu, some 2,400 metres above sea level. On arrival, you’ll set out on a locally guided tour of the Lost City of the Incas, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and the most familiar icon of the Inca Empire.
Day 15
Machu Picchu, Cusco
With the morning free, perhaps revisit Machu Picchu at leisure. Then re-board the Vistadome train for your return journey through the Peruvian Andes back to Cusco.
Day 16
A guided walking tour through Cusco this morning will take you to the square in the city’s historic heart, the Plaza de Armas. During your tour you’ll visit the sacred site of Koricancha and the beautiful Baroque church of Santo Domingo. Both fascinating sites provide insight into the unique fusion of ancient Andean and Western European culture. Enjoy a delicious Peruvian dinner and a traditional folklore show at the Tunupa Restaurant Bar & Grill this evening.
Day 17
Cusco, Lake Titicaca
Take a coach to the city of Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Along the way, you’ll stop at the small town of Andahuaylillas, known for its picturesque Sistine chapel. You’ll also stop for a hearty buffet lunch. On arrival in Puno, enjoy time at leisure to relax by Lake Titicaca.
Day 18
Lake Titicaca
Set on the border of Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is the highest altitude lake in the world. Like a Local - this morning you’ll set out on a cruise over the lake to the remarkable home of the Uros people - a group of more than 40 man-made islands created from floating reeds. On this remarkable trip, you’ll enjoy an insight into the Uros’ unique way of life and experience the spectacular scenery that characterises the region. In the evening, you’ll return to your hotel for a delicious dinner.
Day 19
Lake Titicaca, Lima
After flying back to Lima, enjoy a guided tour of the World Heritage-listed Historic Centre of Lima. A Taste of Lima – this evening, indulge in a Farewell Dinner at Restaurant Huaca Pucllana – set within the ruins of an incredible archaeological compound, beside a colourfully illuminated adobe pyramid. As you dine, re-live the experiences of your tour with your fellow travellers.
Day 20
Depart Lima
After a delicious breakfast, be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
