Day 1
Arrive in Broome and be transferred to your hotel with the day at leisure.
Day 2
Gibb River Road, Tunnel Creek, Windjana Gorge
Visit the fascinating Boab Prison Tree. Journey along the Gibb River to Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge. Continue into the King Leopold Range National Park and later, arrive at your exclusive lodge for dinner.
Day 3
Bell Gorge, Hiking and Swimming
Travel to Bell Gorge, where stunning cliffs surround a series of spectacular waterholes.
Day 4
Galvans Gorge, Manning Gorge, Drysdale River Station
Be spellbound by the seductive scenery of Galvans Gorge and view ancient Aboriginal rock art. Take a refreshing swim at Manning Gorge before arriving at Drysdale River Station.
Day 5
Mitchell Plateau, King Edward River, Bradshaw Art (Gwion Gwion)
Ford the Drysdale River before heading up the Kalumburu Road to view impressive Wandjina and Bradshaw Art (Gwion Gwion). Arrive at Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge.
Day 6
Mitchell Falls, Helicopter Flight
Set off for a guided hike to Little Mertens and Big Mertens Falls. Arrive at the awe-inspiring Mitchell Falls, where you’ll then take off for a spectacular helicopter flight over these magnificent tiered waterfalls.
Day 7
Mitchell Plateau, Gibb River Road, Home Valley Station
Rejoin the iconic Gibb River Road, heading to Home Valley Station.
Day 8
Home Valley Station, El Questro Wilderness Park, Emma Gorge
Learn about the Indigenous training program and the history of the Kimberley’s cattle stations on a tour of Home Valley Station. Later, cross the Pentecost River to beautiful El Questro Wilderness Park, where you can soak in the hot pools of Zebedee Springs and visit the station township.
Day 9
El Questro, Wyndham, Parry’s Lagoon
Hike to the picturesque Emma Gorge and indulge in a revitalising swim. Afterwards, head to Wyndham and view the breathtaking Cambridge Gulf from the spectacular Five Rivers Lookout. Enjoy lunch at an iconic outback pub before visiting Parry’s Lagoon.
Day 10
Ord River, Lake Kununurra
Journey to Lake Argyle and join a wildlife cruise on the mighty Ord River. From a modern shaded vessel, discover a fascinating ecological system and enjoy sunset on Lake Kununurra.
Day 11
Purnululu National Park, Echidna Chasm
Journey deep into Purnululu National Park, a spectacular wilderness region, home to some of the country’s most striking geological formations. Travel the Spring Creek Track and discover the magnitude of Purnululu. Hike to Echidna Chasm, then later, continue on to APT’s award-winning wilderness lodge.
Day 12
Piccaninny Creek, Cathedral Gorge
Walk along Piccaninny Creek, then stop in the natural amphitheatre of Cathedral Gorge, a spacious cavern with astounding acoustics. Marvel at the beehive domes as your guide brings the natural history of the range to life. Perhaps experience an optional scenic helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungle Range (own expense). Enjoy sunset drinks as the sun goes down on the Bungle Bungle massif.
Day 13
Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing
Continue towards Fitzroy Crossing. En route, visit the town of Halls Creek and China Wall.
Day 14
Geikie Gorge, Broome
Explore magnificent Darngku (Geikie Gorge), and board a unique cruise before returning to Broome. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner at Cable Beach Club’s Sunset Bar and Grill this evening.
Day 15
Horizontal Falls, Depart Broome
Start your day with a spectacular half-day scenic seaplane flight to Horizontal Falls, admiring the stunning scenery as you fly in over the bay. Described by Sir David Attenborough as “one of the greatest natural wonders of the world”, explore the astounding falls on a high-powered, exhilarating boat ride. Experience the intense 12-metre tidal currents rushing through two narrow coastal gorges. Later, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure before transferring to the airport for your flight home.

Activity Level

  • A good level of fitness is essential for you to undertake walks in hot conditions and over rugged terrain with uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces. Some walks will require you to clamber over large boulders up to one metre high.  On some of the more challenging walks at Bell Gorge, Mitchell Falls and Piccaninny Creek, you’ll be accompanied and assisted by two expert APT guides.  This tour contains some longer, more challenging walks.
