All breakfasts, 6 lunches, 5 dinners included. You should allow about GBP150-GBP200/USD240-320 for food not included. If you fancy a few drinks then you may want to bring a little more as beer and other alcoholic drinks are expensive and you should expect to pay near western prices. Most meals will be basic, based around rice and noodles, although most accommodation does offer a western breakfast of beans, toast and eggs. In the bigger hotels and cities the full range of western and local foods are available. You can generally avoid the spicier food if you wish. Vegetarians are well catered for but please inform us before departure of any special dietary requests. Please note that in Borneo the availability of certain products is minimal or non-existent, for example wheat or dairy-free, please be prepared for this and you may need to bring these from home.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Seeing the wild orangutan happily munching on fruit above our heads and the python up close. The bats leaving the cave are also really cool, and I really enjoyed getting caught in a mass…
Read MoreIt is an achievable trek for anyone of average fitness with some trekking/walking experience. The walk up to the overnight accommodation is a long day in fairly hot and humid conditions however it will be chilly once you reach Laban Rata for dinner and bed. The summit climb is not technically tough although you will be walking throughout the night at altitude so it will be fairly tiring. There are some steep sections where ropes are available for assistance however it is all worth it for the incredible sunrise view from the summit! You will then walk back to Laban Ratu for a hearty breakfast and rest before walking out of the National Park an alternative route. There will be some steep stepped sections on this route.
