Depart London on your flight to Cape Town

Arrive Cape Town and transfer to a hotel for an overnight stay

Transfer to the Cape Town Station for your onward journey

Visit the historic village of Matjiesfontein at 18h00.

Tour of Kimberley’s Big Hole and Diamond Mine Museum

Travel from the Karoo to the Highveld.

Enjoy a Rovos Station tour, platform lunch and city tour of Pretoria

Depart at 18h00.

Arrive Zeerust for full-board two-night stay at five-star Tau Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve.

Early morning game drive, afternoon game drive and guest activities

Overnight at lodge.

Early morning game drive

Transfer to the train in Botswana with border formalities en route. Travel north from Gaborone and cross the Tropic of Capricorn en route to Zimbabwe.

Traverse Zimbabwe along edge of Hwange National Park

Day at leisure with lectures by historian.

Arrive Victoria Falls

Transfer to Victoria Falls Hotel. Sunset cruise on Zambezi. Dinner at hotel.

Activities include tour of Falls, flight of the angels, whitewater rafting, golf, etc. The train departs Victoria Falls, crossing the bridge en route to Zambia.

Travel to Kapiri Mposhi via the Kafue Bridge and Lusaka

Traverse Zambia in a ortheasterley direction

Day at leisure with lectures by on-board historian.

Disembark at Kasama for a morning excursion to Chisimba Falls

The train climbs the escarpment to the Tanzanian border and the highland valley of Mbeya – the ‘Scotland of Africa’.

Stroll in Makambako (time permitting).

Descend the spectacular pass into the Rift Valley along the Udzungwa Mountains and enter the Selous Game Reserve. Lectures on board by the historian.

Game visit in the Selous Reserve (time permitting)

Travel towards Gwata for an overnight stop.
